High perfomance summer tires - when only the best will do
Question: I own a 2002 Porsche Boxster, and I'm in the market for some high performance tires for the summer. I live in Phoenix, and the streets are usually hot and dry. What perfomance tires are top rated and worth looking at for my Porsche?
Bridgestone Potenza S-02A tires on a Ferrari |
Answer: There are only a few high performance, low profile tires worth considering when you need the ultimate in traction and handling. High Performance Tires give you the best traction and handling on dry or wet streets, and can handle the heat of summer. An added bonus of these tires is that they are ultra low profile, and look fantastic.
Some of the top tires are:
- Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
- Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
- Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
All 3 of these tires are really well rated, and loved by the people who drive them on the streets, and take them to the track.
If you're looking for traction in wet conditions, the Goodyear Eagle F1's are often considered the best. The michelin line seemed to improve in noise and ride smoothness with the PS2's. Bridgestone Potenza S-03 is perhaps the most popular of the ultra high performance tires, building on it's success from the S-02A's.
